I’m Charlie, a senior at the Savannah College of Art and Design working towards my BFA in User Experience Design. I have a passion for visual design and strong research. I’m currently seeking innovative opportunities to challenge myself and grow in the near future; ideally with a diverse team of individuals across multiple disciplines :)
I’ve always loved helping people, and I’ve always loved creating. When I was moving out of my childhood home a few years ago I found a paper from my preschool teacher where she wrote “not great at counting, but loves to draw” and I can’t think of anything that describes me more to this day.
In high school I took as many fine art classes as I could. I also found myself having fun in my technical drawing class. As I grew older I always felt like I had this weird passion somewhere between an artist and an engineer. When I first came to college I studied Industrial Design for two years before learning about User Experience design. Learning to design through the lens of a behavioral scientist turned out being the most rewarding thing I’ll ever do.
Today I find myself inspired by understanding what motivates people. I see good design as something that allows people to use technology easier and more efficiently, so they can spend less time online. I’ve found my goal as a UX designer to be the voice of the user; always making sure their needs are heard and accounted for.
I call myself a UX designer, but I love wearing different hats. I also love graphic design, industrial design, furniture design, automotive design. Pretty much anything with the word “design” following it I would love to do and learn :)
